FootStepLast updated: July 2026
FootStep was built on a simple idea: everyone deserves to learn how to stay safe online without being tracked, profiled, or sold to in the process. There's no account to create, no email required, and no personal information needed to use any part of the site.
FootStep does not require sign-up, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information to access training modules, quizzes, or news content. Your progress and quiz answers are not stored or linked to your identity in any way — nothing you do on the site is tied back to you personally.
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties, because we don't collect any in the first place.
Like most websites, FootStep uses Google Analytics to understand overall site traffic — things like which pages are visited and how many people are learning about a given topic. This data is aggregated and anonymized; it helps us see what's useful and what isn't, and it is never used to identify or track you individually.
FootStep itself does not use cookies to identify or track visitors. Google Analytics may set its own cookies to support the anonymized, aggregate reporting described above. You can disable these at any time through your browser settings or an ad-blocking extension without affecting your ability to use the site.
Some pages — including our training lessons, news feed, and resources tables — link out to third-party organizations such as CISA, the FTC, and news outlets like The Hacker News and Krebs on Security. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and FootStep isn't responsible for how they handle your data once you leave our site.
If this policy ever changes, the update will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date above. Since FootStep doesn't collect contact information, we're not able to notify you directly — so check back here if you'd like to stay current.
